Island Life: Koh Tao and Koh Samui

25th to 30th November 2016

After Chiang Mai, we flew back to Bangkok to meet up with Lisa and Duncan, and from there, we headed off to the island of Koh Tao.

We spent several days catching up with these two lovelies, and getting to know Koh Tao.

Koh Tao is an island with lots going on. There are some luxury resorts, crazy nightlife areas, ads for Muay Thai boxing, and backpackers aplenty.

On our last day, the 4 of us took off on scooters around the island, stopping to eat, snorkel, or figure out where we had lost our way on the map.

A few days before Christmas, we left Lisa and Duncan and headed for Koh Samui for some serious laziness and luxury and Lanna Resort. This place was just fabulous, and luckily they had festive cheer aplenty. Our favourite part was the Christmas Eve party, which included mystery cocktails (the best kind!), a tasting menu, and a Thai mariachi band (of course) who took requests. It made our year when they launched into Feliz Navidad at our table!

We headed to Prana, a nearby resort for New Year's Eve, where we enjoyed more themed partying - they really know how to go for a theme on Koh Samui! Our New Year's Eve party included neon body paint, lots of live music, a fabulous cabaret show, and fire dancers on the beach. Not a bad way to begin 2017.

We left Thailand full of energy and ready to explore again. Spending 3 weeks around smiling, friendly Thai people, regular massages, tasty food, lazy pool days, and smiles aplenty has refuelled us for all the adventures ahead!
